We, in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, are excited to work with you and your family to help finance your education. We understand that this may be a confusing process, so always feel free to reach out to us when you have questions.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only application needed by SCSU to evaluate your aid eligibility. It is important to note though that financial aid does not always cover all expenses, so you may need to consider additional funding sources or payment plans.

We know many students and families are eager to get started on financial aid applications for the upcoming academic year. We’re pleased to announce that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available now at StudentAid.gov.
The FAFSA is essential for accessing grants, scholarships, work-study, and federal loans, so don’t miss this opportunity to maximize your financial aid.
Read about the big changes that took place beginning with the 2024-2025 year here.
The application for 2025-2026 aid year opened on November 21, 2024. If you are attending SCSU between August 2025 and June 2026, apply online as soon as possible if you have not yet done so.
This regulation will officially go into effect starting in Fall 2023. To qualify for financial aid, students must be enrolled in coursework that applies to an approved degree seeking program. For more information on how this could impact your financial aid award, please visit our Course Program of Study Eligibility page.
Please notify our office using the Change of Award form if you will not be attending full-time (12.0 credits for undergraduates, 9.0 credits for graduate students) as all financial aid awards are based on full-time status. The Change of Award form can also be used to request updates to your financial aid for housing status changes and more.
SCSU has recently partnered with a company called Solutions at ECMC which will be available to answer all of your federal student loan questions. For more information click here.
