Navigate Roles

Generally, as Faculty/Staff, in Navigate you will have one of two roles, which are automatically assigned to you based on your Banner roles. Here you will find a break down of each one and what it will give you access to in Navigate.

Please note that these roles sync from Banner and thus are not assigned by Navigate Help and are instead requested and assigned by the Registrar's Office. Information on how to request access can be found here: Navigate Access.

The professor role is assigned to all full-time and part-time faculty. Below you will find a brief description of what this role gives you access to within Navigate.

  • View Professor homepage, which lists all students in the courses you teach

  • View student profiles of students in the courses you teach

    • View student major, concentration, classification, student ID

    • View History tab

  • Set up Faculty Office Hours

    • Add availability for office hours

    • Add appointment summaries

    • Add notes

  • Issue an Alert

  • Sync Outlook calendar

The Advisor Role in Navigate corresponds to Banner Advisor access. Often your supervisor will need to request this access for you. More information on this can be found here: Navigate Access. Below you will find a brief description of what this role gives you access to within Navigate.

  • View student profiles (all students)

    • View major, concentration, minor, classification, GPA, midterm/final grades, categories, etc.

    • View History tab

    • View Course tab

  • Issue an Alert

  • Set up Faculty Office Hours

  • Set up Assigned Advisor appointments

    • Write appointment summaries

    • Write notes

  • Create an Appointment Campaign

  • View the Advanced Search

  • Sync Outlook calendar
