Navigate Access

Faculty, staff, university assistants and student workers may require the "Advisor Role" if employed in a position with advising responsibilities requiring access to student academic and advising records. After "Advisor Role" access is approved, this access will automatically sync to Navigate the following day, allowing the individual to access student information in Navigate as well.

Navigate Access

Navigate access is given via Banner. You must first be approved to view student information in Banner before viewing student information in Navigate.

Faculty, staff, university assistants and student workers may require the "Advisor Role" if employed in a position with advising responsibilities requiring access to student academic and advising records. ALL requests to view student information, both in Banner and Navigate must follow the guidelines below. Once the advisor role has been approved, Navigate access will automatically sync and be given the following day.

If you have not done so already, please read the Overview above before continuing on and requesting access.

The director or department chairperson must email the Registrar's Office (registrar@southernct.edu) requesting the "Advisor Role".

Please also specify the following:

  • Employee Name, ID Number, and Job Title.
  • Responsibilities that require access to student academic records and advising notes.
  • Confirmation that FERPA and Directory Information Training (Advisor section) has been completed by the employee.

This will enable access to Banner Advisor Self-Service, Degree Works, and Navigate within 24 hours following approval.

Please note that you must first have Navigate Access before requesting care unit specific Navigate roles.

Faculty, staff, university assistants and student workers may require access within a specific care unit in Navigate. A few examples of care units in Navigate are: Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services, Multicultural Center, University Access Programs, Dean of Students and First Year Experience. 

If you require additional access to a specific care unit in Navigate, you must first ensure you have access to Navigate by following the steps outlined above. Once Navigate access is issued, you may then have your supervisor reach out to navigatehelp@southernct.edu requesting you be given an additional role in Navigate so that you may access your unique care unit.
