If extraordinary circumstances prevented you from withdrawing or taking a leave of absence by the published refund deadline, you may request a review of your tuition and fee charges through the Tuition and Fee Refund Appeal process.
Appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on the circumstances presented and the supporting documentation provided. Approval is not guaranteed, and students may be asked to provide additional information during the review process. Submitting an appeal does not suspend your academic or financial obligations. If an appeal is approved, any reduction in charges will be calculated after accounting for retained financial aid, grants, or scholarships.
Appeal Deadline: The Appeal Form must be submitted within 30 days after the end of the semester under appeal.
To be eligible for consideration, you must:
- Have submitted a University Withdrawal or Leave of Absence form and no longer be enrolled for the semester under appeal.
- Demonstrate that extraordinary circumstances necessitated your withdrawal or leave.
- Provide supporting documentation related to your appeal.
Appeals may be considered for:
Medical Emergencies
- Severe illness or medical emergency
- Documentation from a healthcare provider required
Administrative Error
- University administrative error
- Supporting documentation required
Employment Changes
- Significant change in employment circumstances
- Documentation from employer required
Childcare Emergencies
- Loss of childcare or significant childcare disruption
- Documentation from provider required
Death of an Immediate Family Member
- Death certificate, obituary, or similar documentation required
Appeals generally will not be approved for:
- Misunderstanding course meeting schedules
- Missing or misunderstanding drop or withdrawal deadlines
- Inability to transfer credits to another institution
- Ongoing or chronic medical conditions that were known at the time of registration and remained unchanged
- Transportation difficulties
- Change of mind regarding course enrollment
- Dissatisfaction with course content, instructor, or grade
- Change of major
