Donation Guide for Move-Out

Spring Move-Out Drive

Every Spring semester, the Office of Sustainability hosts a Move-Out donation drive. Students who are moving out can leave unwanted--but in viable condition--items in our move out bins to be collected and donated. These items are brought to the Thrifty Owl in North Campus Midrise, a free reuse store for students to grab dorm, school, and kitchen supplies for no charge. Any surplus items are donated elsewhere.

Since 2024, we have worked with Helpsy to donate/repurpose the linens and textiles that we don’t have the means to accept. Clean clothing, bed sheets, pillows, and other fabrics (excluding foam mattress pads) can be donated in the same bins.

Please see the following flyers for instructions on how and what to donate:

For years, Residence Life, the campus Food Pantry, and the Office of Sustainability collaborated to collect non-perishable food items for donation during the Fall and Spring Semester move-out. The majority of this food goes to the campus Food Pantry to support our Owls who may suffer food insecurity, no questions asked.

Please support future drives by donating non-expired, unopened, non-perishable foods. Further emails about donating and visiting the food pantry can be directed to foodpantry@southernct.edu
