New construction provides the unique generational opportunity to incorporate green building design in a way that will last for many decades. SCSU has prioritized building green for many years, and in addition to being the home of the LEED Gold-certified Academic Science and Laboratory Building (2015) and School of Business (2012), the West Campus Midrise residence hall was the first state-owned building to earn LEED certification in 2004.
