SCSU made the switch to 100 percent clean, renewable electricity purchase in May 2018 as part of a 4-5 year contract. This Green-e certified electricity is derived from 100 percent wind power generated in the Midwestern U.S., for the same price as the previous procurement contract.

Even though SCSU now uses electricity that is virtually carbon free, it is more important than ever to make every kilowatt-hour count and conserve. Reducing campus energy use saves money and helps ensure a clean energy future by reducing demand. SCSU is a member of the US EPA’s Green Power Partnership, which recognizes and promotes carbon reduction through the purchase of clean, renewable energy.
