Academic Specialists are high-achieving undergraduate students who offer tutoring support in a variety of subjects to SCSU students. Academic Specialists aid students in achieving academic success by helping them to develop an understanding of course content as well as effective study strategies.
Peer Academic Leader
Peer Academic Leader (PALS) Program is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. PALS is provided for all students in the supported classes who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades.
PALS are undergraduate students who have successfully completed the class for which they are assigned to support. PALS attend class for their assigned course once per week and then plan and hold two review sessions for the students enrolled in that class section to review and discuss challenging concepts, share additional resources and materials, and help students develop more effective study skills.
Success Navigators are the face of the Southern Success Center as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff who enter our area. Success Navigators greet students, help students schedule and sign-in for appointments, answer phones, and perform basic clerical duties (e.g. data entry, copying/scanning, filing, etc.).
Professional Academic Success Coach
Professional Academic Success Coaches are graduate students who are passionate about helping students develop necessary skills to be academically successful. They have a focus on student success. They demonstrate a mastery of holistic elements
Peer Academic Success Coach
Peer Academic Success Coaches are passionate about helping students develop necessary skills to be academically successful. They have a focus on student success. Peer Academic Success Coaches demonstrate a mastery of holistic elements of academic success. They help students identify barriers to academic success and assist them in creating action plans for overcoming those challenges. They help students maximize their potential for academic success by supporting them and assisting them in gaining effective study strategies and behaviors.
