Guest Services

Occasionally, someone who is not a university employee, nor a student, will require some level of access to university computer systems and networks. The IT department provides three levels of access for guests: Guest Wireless Access, Affiliate Account Access, and Auditor and Consultant Account Access. Each level of guest access requires a campus sponsor. A campus sponsor is an employee or student who assumes responsibility for the actions of their guest.

For campus visitors that do not have an official sponsor and are looking for computer access in one of our labs, there are several computers available on the first floor of the Buley Library. For information on these computers, see the Library Reference Desk.

Note: SCSU IT does not manage the Student Dormitory Wireless Network. Students should contact ResLife and/or Comcast for network support.

Guest Wireless Access

There are two options that university guests can consider when attempting to connect to the guest wireless network. Students and employees can create temporary wireless accounts for their visitors or a visitor can self-register themselves and generate their own guest wireless account.

Sponsored Guest Accounts:

Students and employees can create temporary wireless accounts for their visitors by logging into the Guest Access Portal and filling out the guest’s contact information. When complete, select the “Email Account” option to have the system send the username and password directly to your visitor.

Guest Access to MyApps

Owners of an application within MyApps may add guest users who are external to SCSU. If you are unsure of who is set to be an application’s owner currently, please contact that Help Desk at 203-392-5123 or helpdesk@southernct.edu.

Visiting and Non-Degree Students

Please refer to the Registrar’s Office for information regarding account creation and activation for visiting and non-degree students.

Further information on the process, as well as Registrar’s contact details, can be found at https://inside.southernct.edu/onestop/visitingstudents.

Auditor and Consultant Account Access

If an auditor or consultant requires Banner access, the sponsor or SCSU Representative must provide each auditor/consultant with the Auditor Onboarding Data Sheet and collect responses. The sponsor is responsible for filling out the bottom portion of the form, as well as contacting the Help Desk (helpdesk@southernct.edu) to create a work order for each account requested. The work order must contain the completed data sheet. For security reasons, incomplete data sheets will not be accepted.

Please allow 2 weeks for this process before the consultant/auditor start date.
