Position Summary
Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as a University Assistant in the Procurement Services department. This temporary, part-time position supports the university's procurement operations, including processing purchase requisitions, managing purchase orders, and assisting with vendor communications.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Contract Compliance and Procurement Specialist, the University Assistant will:
- Assist with processing purchase requisitions and creating purchase orders in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Provide customer service to the university community and vendors regarding procurement-related inquiries.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of vendor records within Banner.
- Support the processing of contract letters, memos, and other procurement documentation.
- Aid in the administration of bids and Request for Proposals (RFPs).
- Assist with various projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Contract Compliance and Procurement Specialist.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Preferred
- Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar ERP systems.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and university purchasing policies.
Work Schedule
- Up to 19 hours per week.
- Workdays and hours to be determined in coordination with the Contract Compliance and Procurement Specialist.
Compensation
- Hourly rate commensurate with experience and university guidelines.
