The Math Emporium Coordinator is responsible for the handling of all aspects of the Math Emporium including the planning, managing and directing of the day-to-day activities of the area.
Position Responsibilities:
Serves as liaison for planning, research, reporting, and implementation of Math programs, classes, and services to be offered in the Emporium.
Coordinates the daily schedule for faculty and staff who operate the Math Emporium and teach emporium classes.
Plans, prepares, and provides ongoing professional development for faculty and staff that support the Math Emporium.
Assists department chairperson with assigning faculty to teach Emporium courses.
Plans, prepares, and provides ongoing professional development for faculty and staff that support the Math Emporium.
Advises the Mathematics Department chairperson on the suitability of hiring and assigning faculty to teach emporium courses.
Coordinates and develops enhancements to the course material for the Math Emporium, including student, emporium leader, and faculty guides.
Prepares reports as needed by the Mathematics Department, including assessments of student performance, reports to outside agencies (e.g., accrediting agencies), etc.
Monitors and tracks attendance of students in the Math Emporium to ensure that they are meeting the weekly requirements and works with faculty to effectively handle situations where students do not meet the requirements.
Handles the scheduling, administering, and reporting of mathematics placement testing.
Gathers and compiles data, producing specialized reports and documents. Maintains and updates files, records, logs, and other tracking systems.
Works with the Information Technology Department to ensure that all instructional information technology systems are operational and updated as necessary.
Recruits, trains, evaluates, and supervises university assistants, graduate assistants, and student employees to staff the Math Emporium and emporium classes.
Analyzes current operating practices such as record keeping systems, forms control, personnel, and budgetary requirements to create new more efficient appropriate systems or procedures.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mathematics or (ii) a master’s degree in education with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Four (4) years of relevant administrative experience required. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication, including proper English usage. Principles and methods of budget preparation and expenditure control. Office management processes and procedures. Computer literacy with the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with McGraw-Hill's ALEKS platform preferred. These requirements may be waived for individuals with alternate experience.
