Apporto Virtual Applications
Apporto allows students, faculty, and staff to remotely access select applications, using a web browser, that are normally only available on campus lab and classroom computers. This software includes, but is not limited to: SPSS and ArcGIS.

Chromebook Resources
A Chromebook is a laptop or tablet running the Linux-based Chrome OS as its operating system. As this OS operates differently than Mac or Windows systems, we’ve compiled some resources below to assist users with accessing commonly used services at SCSU.

GlobalProtect VPN
The GlobalProtect VPN software enables devices to connect to the SCSU network while off campus.

Microsoft Azure for Education
Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is a no cost option that allows students, faculty, and staff to install Microsoft software on personal devices for instructional purposes.

Microsoft Office Lens
The Microsoft Office Lens app allows you to capture and digitize notes, documents, business cards, whiteboards, etc., and convert these to Word documents, PDFs, or PowerPoints – all from your mobile device.

Microsoft Office Suite
As an SCSU Faculty/Staff member or student, you may download the full Office Suite on your personal computer for free.

Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams provides numerous tools for creating a collaborative workspace, while integrating your other Office 365 apps and services.
Note: When working from home, if you are remotely accessing a computer that is on campus, Microsoft Teams audio and video will not work properly, as Teams will be using the microphone and web cam on that computer rather than the one in front of you. To utilize these functions, you will need to download the Teams software on the actual computer being used at home and launch from there.

OneDrive
OneDrive is a cloud-based storage system provided through the university through our Microsoft Office365 subscription.

Outlook Web App (OWA)
The Outlook Web App is the web version of your university email, designed for accessing your email anywhere.

Remote Desktop Connection (Windows)
In the event that you would need to access a SCSU Windows computer remotely, the Remote Desktop Connection app can be utilized while connected to the GlobalProtect VPN.

WebEx
Cisco Webex provides services such as video conferencing, online meetings, screen share, and webinars.
Note: When working from home, if you are remotely accessing a computer that is on campus, WebEx audio and video will not work properly, as it will be using the microphone and web cam on that computer rather than the one in front of you. To utilize these functions, you will need to launch WebEx on the actual computer being used at home.

Zoom is a cloud-based video communications app that allows you to set up virtual video and audio conferencing, webinars, live chats, screen-sharing, and other collaborative capabilities.
