Zoom Video Conferencing

Zoom is a cloud-based video communications app that allows you to set up virtual video and audio conferencing, webinars, live chats, screen-sharing, and other collaborative capabilities.

Requests for faculty Zoom accounts can be sent to helpdesk@southernct.edu in order to have a license provisioned.

Some features of Zoom include:

  • Instant or scheduled meetings
  • Meeting limitations:
    • Duration: 24 hours
    • Participants: 300
    • Number of meetings: Unlimited
  • Screen sharing
  • Virtual Backgrounds
  • Waiting Rooms – Hosts can enable Waiting Rooms to screen participants and ensure only those invited to the event can join.
  • Chat – In-meeting chat supports one-on-one private chat as well as group chat. Hosts can choose who the participants can chat with or disable chat entirely.
  • Breakout Rooms – The Breakout Rooms feature allows you to divide your meeting into individual spaces for smaller group collaboration.
  • Whiteboarding – When sharing your screen, you may also share a whiteboard – a blank white screen that can be annotated on. Hosts can allow participants to co-annotate as well.
