Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students

The Alcohol and other Drug Services office provides confidential screening and assessments to students in addition to harm-reduction skill-based programs such as BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) and College Alc. AOD also offers Southern students online self-assessments called the E-TOKE and the E-CHUG.

Reducing Individual Dangers and Encouraging Safety (R.I.D.E.S.) Program

R.I.D.E.S is a program designed to offer you a safe, responsible mode of transportation when you need one. R.I.D.E.S. allows you to obtain your own Metro Card assigned to your individual student ID number. Once registered, you can call any Metro Taxi in Connecticut at any time and swipe your Metro Card to pay for the charge.

R.I.D.E.S is available to you 24 hours a day and can be used for any reason with "no questions asked." It is especially designed for circumstances when you might lack cash, but need a safe way to get out of an uncomfortable situation.
