Diversity & Inclusion Statement

The Theatre Department at Southern Connecticut State University is dedicated to the values of diversity and inclusion. We uphold these values in our hiring practices, literary selections, and casting processes. We believe that by providing access and creating opportunity for a diversity of students, faculty, and staff we will better reflect and serve the wider SCSU community. We strive to tell stories that resonate with more than a single group. In addition, we practice both gender and color conscious casting for all of our shows. This intercultural and intersectional approach to producing and educating allows for a multifaceted population to come together around shared stories and recognized experiences. By including all – regardless of race, color, creed, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, or any other division – we commit ourselves to authentically fostering the educational and creative development of our students.
