University Assistant – Sponsored Programs and Research

Position Summary

The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (SPAR) at Southern Connecticut State University is seeking a detail-oriented, organized individual to support its centralized research administration office with daily pre-award and post-award duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct funding opportunity searches to match individual or institutional priorities
  • Review proposal application guidelines and prepare proposal requirement checklists
  • Copyedit and proofread drafted proposals and supporting materials for clarity and compliance
  • Aid in the processing of internal approval workflows and new award set-ups
  • Support document review and post-award data entry tasks
  • Review electronic records for audit and archive purposes

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Close attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Comfort learning new online systems (Kuali Higher Ed, Banner)

Preferred

  • Experience with grant administration and sponsored programs
  • Prior experience working in a university or public agency environment

Compensation

Hourly rate commensurate with experience and university guidelines
