About the SCSU Noyce “OwlsTeach” Scholarship Program
The OwlsTeach Program aims to increase the number and diversity of new secondary (grades 7-12) science and math teachers in Connecticut’s highest-needs school districts. It does this by awarding Scholarships to SCSU students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science or mathematics to earn a secondary teaching certification (Pathway 1) as well as to SCSU students pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in science or mathematics teaching certification (Pathway 2). Position Summary
As a University Assistant (UA) working with the SCSU Noyce “OwlsTeach” Scholarship Program, you will be an essential member of the leadership team, and you will work closely with and report to the Noyce Program Director. Your role will primarily be to support the work of recruiting high-quality applicants (SCSU and CT State students) to the Noyce Teaching Scholarship Program, and maintenance of project data. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable learning and experience managing aspects of a federally funded grant project. You will have the opportunity to interact and make social connections with individuals across the university, as well as within the broader CT State Community College System.
Position Description
- Noyce website management and design
- Design/editing of promotional materials (e.g., digital & paper-based flyers)
- Assist in the preparation & dissemination of program-related materials via mass email communications to potential students and families
- Attend & participate in recruitment events to communicate information about the Noyce Scholarship Program (e.g., graduate and undergraduate Open Houses)
- Social media management (including regular posts across Noyce’s social media accounts)
- Noyce email management
Qualifications
The candidate for this position should have
- Strong communication, written, and collaboration skills.
- Prior experience with basic graphic design platforms (e.g., Canva).
- Prior experience with website editing and design ability.
- Prior experience with social media (e.g., management of a schedule for posts across multiple platforms).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability; the ideal candidate should be able to work independently and be willing to take initiative on projects that align with your skills and interests.
