Department Description
The Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders within the College of Education aim is to serves and supports school-based personnel educating children and youth with an autism spectrum disorder. The center is located on the Education Center Building, and the team is comprised of esteemed faculty and staff from the University. The Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders consists of three divisions: Training, Research, and Direct Services. The center continues to create a variety of lectures and activities to support parents, educators, and students with ASD.
Position Summary
The University Assistant (UA) works under the supervision of the Director of the Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders with duties related to operations and efficiency of the center daily activities.
Position Description
- Manage the center office including purchase and manage supplies
- Manage center email and phone messages
- Assists with distributing correspondence, memos, and other communications.
- Set up, attend, and take notes at weekly staff and biannual board meetings
- Assist with event and program logistical arrangements, including corresponding and meeting with presenters or staff, setting up workshop registrations (virtual and in person), and creating marketing materials
- Assists in preparing and disseminating program-related materials, including newsletters, brochures, and reports.
- Assists in updating and maintaining the center’s list serve and social media channels.
- Assists in developing promotional materials and strategies to enhance program visibility.
- Assist with manage budget and reconciling credit card monthly
Qualification
- Experience in an academic or educational setting is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those described above as needed.
- BS Degree or higher.
