University Assistant - CARE Project Assistant

This is a temporary, part-time position which may be renewed at the discretion of the University.

The Community Alliance for Research and Engagement (CARE) develops and oversees the CARE Health Leaders program, which includes the Community Health Leaders (CHL) and the Community Research Fellows (CRF). Both programs focus on engaging with residents with lived experience from lower-income neighborhoods and communities of color. Throughout the nine-month program, participants are trained in social determinants of health, addressing health issues, CBPR and PCOR, etc.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assists in the administration and delivery of CARE Health Leaders and all related activities.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of grant-related programs, services, and training, providing rich learning experience and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects.
  • Assists in gathering appropriate information and synthesizing information for reporting.
  • Assists in the submission of federal data reporting requirements.
  • Assists with evaluation activities, including data collection, analysis, and report writing, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the program's impact.
  • Assist CARE staff in coordinating meetings with partners. Attends and participates in grant-related committee, coalition, and working group meetings.
  • Assist with coordination and facilitation of all Community Research Fellows meetings, venue booking, catering, and any needed changes.
  • Attend the Yale Cancer Center Host Site check-in meetings and assist in troubleshooting any issues with the researcher's fellows.
  • Schedule and attend fellow check-in meetings, documenting their activities and progress throughout the program.
  • Assist with coordination and execution of activities for the alum network.
  • Travel between New Haven, Waterbury, and Bridgeport is required for meetings, site visits, and program recruitment.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above that do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position, including coordinating related activities for overlapping projects.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in public health or related field preferred.

1-2 years of recent experience or knowledge in clinical research.

Experience conducting community outreach in New Haven, Bridgeport, or Waterbury, CT.

Ability to work independently and in a team setting; highly motivated.

Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be
considered.
