The Department of Communication Disorders at Southern CT State University is dedicated to educating a vibrant community of 175-215 undergraduate students and annually training 45 full-time graduate students. Our institution offers a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders in addition to a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Undergraduates actively participate in clinical observation, primarily through our on-site clinic, while graduate students benefit from a six-semester academic and clinical rotation.
Our clinic serves approximately 120 clients from New Haven and neighboring communities, offering crucial diagnostic and therapeutic services. This includes the Southern Connecticut Audiology program, Center for Communication Disorders, and Access Network.
We are currently seeking a billing and scheduling assistant to join our team, reporting to the Director of Clinical Education. This role supports graduate student guidance, billing, record keeping, calendar management, and administrative coordination for our esteemed clinic faculty. This position offers stability and growth within our dynamic department, contributing to the future of communication disorders education and clinical practice.
The position is part-time for 19 hours a week at $20 an hour.
Responsibilities
- Assistance with Billing
- • Assistance with the management of memos, letters, faxes, and forms
- • Assist with maintaining student and client records electronically
- • Assist with the maintenance of client contact lists and monitor relevant Team pages
- • Answer phone calls relating to clinic operations
- • Assist in compiling billing reports
- • Work with graduate assistants to generate invoices and manage accounts payable
- • Work with graduate assistants to manage the scheduling of appointments
- • Assist in maintaining inventory of clinic protocols
- • Assist clinical instructors with paperwork
Qualifications
- • At least 1 years of experience as an administrative assistant
- • Excellent computer skills (excel, word, etc.)
- • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- • Strong organizational skills
- • Associate or bachelor’s degree
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills
