Under the supervision of the Department Chairperson, the Admissions and Field Placement Assistant will support social work admissions and field placement activities across the BSW, MSW and DSW programs. Responsibilities include serving as the business manager for these units by assisting the Associate Directors of Admissions and Field Placement and their associated team members.

Position Responsibilities

Assist the Associate Director of Admissions with developing electronic and print communication to promote social work degree programs. 

Respond to prospective student’s requests for information via phone, postal mail, email, website, or in-person.  

Organize virtual and in-person admissions events on-campus and off-campus at appropriate recruitment locations.  

Conduct research on social work academic program competitors. 

Order supplies, print materials and promotional items as needed for admissions and field placement and manage associated budgets. 

Assist students with submitting required documents for admissions and field placement. Greet guests who arrive at the Admissions & Field Placement Office. 

Collect, organize, and manage admissions and field placement data and generate reports.

Collect and maintain field placement site documentation and requirements. 

Communicate with relevant personnel on the SCSU campus to acquire needed information. Track processes throughout the system through full execution, communicating with relevant personnel along the way.

Effectively coordinate resolution of problems and maintain electronic files that document processes.

Coordinate meetings and other logistics to support overall admissions and field placement functions. 

May supervise part-time personnel including Graduate Assistants, University Assistants, and Student Workers. 

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience providing business office support, data management, and customer service. Excellent skills with organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail. High level of proficiency with oral communication, written communication, and diplomacy. Must work effectively with diverse audiences. Ability to balance taking initiative and taking the time to ask clarifying questions. Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of spreadsheets, database applications, and work processing. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite. Experience in a higher education setting and knowledge of the social work discipline preferred. Demonstrated effectiveness at independently managing projects, working collaboratively, and solving problems preferred.
