The Director of Information Systems-Technology Administration performs work requiring advanced knowledge in the field, and consistently exercises discretion and independent judgment when managing the University's technology-related business and administrative functions, related staff (as assigned), and initiatives. Maintains and manages technology budgets, has responsibility for vendor and contract management, management and supervision of technology projects, budget planning, operational analysis, product lifecycle management, monitors compliance with University business practices, and maintains audit records.

Position Responsibilities

Provides budget and financial management and supervision for the IT Department and technology-related services.

Recommends prioritization of IT initiatives and funding.

Manages strategic and tactical initiatives related to IT.

Manages the department's administrative support functions, design and execution ofIT/university business processes, and ensures SOW compliance by vendors and contractors.

Plans and coordinates support services and systems necessary for daily technology business operations: payroll, human resources, supervision and evaluation of support staff, purchasing and billing, inventory, receiving, contracted services, and information systems.

Coordinates and facilitates the University's IT governance processes.

Supervises the IT Department's audit, process, and compliance with legal and procedural requirements.

Develops, prepares, and analyzes IT budgets and maintains fiscal quality control.

Manages the due diligence process ensuring the efficacy, appropriateness, cost effectiveness, and fit of technology solutions.

Recommends policies and procedures necessary to enhance IT-related business and administrative operations.

Administers and maintains the IT planning process that integrates with the University's initiatives and strategic plans.

Plans and manages technology facilities and technology facilities projects in cooperation with IT and University administrators.

Negotiates and manages technology-related contracts and agreements as required for the ongoing operation of the IT in coordination with the University's procurement office.

Represents the department at appropriate functions, meetings, and committees, as directed.

Develops and presents concepts and alternatives to satisfy business operational requirements.

Communicates and coordinates with all levels of the university community and develops and maintains effective working relationships with other departments.

Under direction of the CIO, prepares project plans, budgets, and objectives to facilitate the information systems and support services functions; develops and maintains pertinent policies.

Participates in development of release plans and user training plans. Partner with vendors to plan implementation of new technologies.

Manages user and vendor relationships.

Serves on the CIO executive team.

May supervisor staff and administrators.

Performs other duties related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of the responsibility of the position.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years of related experience is required. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, technology or related field from an accredited institution supplemented by six (6) years of experience in technology-related business operations including project management, budget planning, financial management, technology roll-out planning and supervision, vendor relations, facilities planning, office systems and process design, and contract management is strongly preferred. Three years of supervisory experience is preferred. Master's degree preferred. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
