The Coordinator of High-Tech Classrooms and Audio Visual/TV Services is responsible for the design and supervision of all high-technology classrooms throughout the University. Also responsible for instructional and training seminars on the use of all hardware and software associated with and/or located within these classrooms.

Position Responsibilities

Oversee the design, development, operation and maintenance of technology classrooms and conference spaces throughout the University to promote the efficient and effective use of these teaching facilities by faculty and administrators.

Responsible for planning, design, development and coordination of all technology-related aspects of new high-tech classrooms, conference spaces and the future installation of all new high-tech spaces, including consultation with various areas of the University, particularly with Information Technology and Telecommunications and Academic Departments.

Manage the scheduling and maintenance of all audio visual/television equipment that is permanently installed in classrooms, as well as the equipment that is still delivered upon request including the distribution service areas throughout the campus to ensure timely response to customer inquiries and problems.

Provide technical support for the high-tech classrooms and assume responsibility for inventory control regarding those classrooms, including hardware and software applications and coordinate vendor support for set ups and repairs.

Set up, maintain and manage the network in all high-tech rooms and conduct seminars and workshops for faculty and administrative faculty in the use of said equipment and software.

Evaluate hardware and software and make recommendations relative to their use in high-technology classrooms and laboratories, their continuous improvement and their remaining state-of-the-art.

Make employment recommendations for the hiring of student assistants, train and supervise university assistants and student workers and other employees as necessary.

Must expect rotating schedule to accommodate 7-day, 2-shift coverage of duties. May be called occasionally during off-hours to handle special problems.

Write, edit, and maintain documentation for the user and helpdesk community and assist in preparation of the annual budget.

Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic responsibility of the position.

Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or related field. At least four years of professional experience in support of audio/video equipment, instructional equipment, computers and their use in high-tech classrooms. Master’s degree preferred. A thorough knowledge of PC based software is required with preference given to those who also possess a working knowledge of Macintosh programs. Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and administrators in the coordination, planning and implementation of sophisticated plans and programs. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
