The Coordinator of Clinical Placement and Academic Support, Health and Movement Sciences will work with multiple clinical sites to coordinate student clinical placements and coordinate academic support for students in Health and Movement Sciences (HMS) degree programs. Manage the business operations related to learning opportunities within the HMS laboratories.
Position Responsibilities
Collaborate with program coordinators and the Department Chairperson to identify experiential learning/clinical placement needs for HMS students.
Manage all communication with HMS students regarding program-specific application processes, requirements, and expectations for experiential learning/clinical placements.
Identify, recruit, establish, and maintain affiliations for HMS student experiential learning/clinical placements.
Collaborate with faculty assigned to teach internship courses to communicate with personnel at placement sites regarding assigned students, schedules, and expected student learning outcomes; assess student progress, ensure placement site compliance with program requirements, and obtain required reports and documentation.
Maintain communication with internship supervisors to ensure students meet formative and summative goals in a timely manner.
Monitor and report required clinical clearance records for students and internship supervisors. Coordinate with the Department Chairperson to approve and secure permission for students to enroll in internship courses.
Collaborate with other departments and programs to provide interprofessional experiential learning opportunities for HMS students including simulation laboratory experiences.
Collaborate with HMS faculty to support business operations that expand experiential learning opportunities in human performance labs.
Serve as the HMS liaison with University Academic Advisement and Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services (CASAS).
Support HMS program coordinators with connecting students to appropriate academic support for successful completion of post-graduation certification examinations in their profession.
Attend HMS department meetings and other committee meetings and activities as assigned.
Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Qualifications
REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in business or health-related discipline. Three (3) years of clinical experience in health care, athletic training, or health/fitness setting. Experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrated strong communication skills.
PREFERRED: Experience delivering college support services to students in a health/fitness discipline. Experience using technological tools and university systems to support student success. Demonstrated effectiveness at supporting business operations, working collaboratively, and building external partnerships. Strong interpersonal skills.
These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
