The CARE Project Manager assists the Director in the administration, coordination, and implementation of grant-related goals and objectives for various grants and contracts, including programs supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), CT Department of Public Health, and other governmental and private funding sources. The CARE Project Manager supports the day-to-day operations and coordination of the activities associated with grant programs. The Project Manager develops and implements public health-related community programs. The Project Manager coordinates participants in grant related activities and prepares data and reports for the Director.
Collaborates with the CARE Director in the administration and delivery of grant- and contract- funded programs and all related activities, including but not limited to managing deliverables to funding agencies by coordinating with CARE staff and contractors, at community organizations and communicating with assigned staff at the funding agencies.
Assists in the design of grant-related programs, services, and trainings. Works with staff, community partners, and subcontractors to monitor grant and contract compliance and implement activities. Tracks reporting requires and ensures deadlines are met.
Works closely with the Director and subcontractors to gather appropriate information, create systems for gathering information, and synthesize information for reporting. Assists in the preparation and submission of data reporting requirements. Assisting Director in ensuring all data is inputted into database for the CDC.
Assists with grant budget management.
Coordinates, attends, and participates in meetings with the staff, community partners, committees, working groups and coalitions to ensure coordination of all project activities and supporting governance infrastructure. Attends and participates in committees, coalitions and working group meetings.
Serves as a liaison with the evaluation contractors to support and ensure completion of activities, including data collection, data analysis, report writing, and other evaluation activities. Processes and monitors related SCSU IRBs.
Assists in the recruitment and supervision of personnel for grant administration. Under the direction of the Director, the Project Manager supervises other personnel hired for grant-related activities.
Oversees recruitment and hiring of student workers and interns and coordinates their training. Provides supervision to students.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above that do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Must be available during the day and some evenings and weekends.
Serves as back up to director, as needed.
Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or related field. At least three years of project management experience in a related program area. Evidence of organizational and leadership skills. Successful experience convening and working with community-based organizations and other community stakeholders. Ability to diplomatically serve as liaison to all university administrative offices and external entities involved in grant program. Excellent writing and editing skills. Computer literacy. Ability to develop and implement work plans and timelines. Ability to manage complex tasks and meet deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to health equity. Special qualifications in skills expertise may be added pursuant to the requirements of the grant. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience. Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.
Preferred: Master’s in Public Health, Social Work, or related discipline. New Haven resident.
