The Associate Director of Assessment and Accreditation assists the Associate Dean of the College of Education with the development, implementation and administration of the College’s assessment plans. Additionally, responsible for managing the data collection system and reporting of both direct and indirect assessments for all the College of Education programs, including data collection and analysis.

Position Responsibilities

Leads efforts to implement and administer the assessment plans college wide.

Coordinates the data collection in the data management system and works with faculty to ensure complete data collection for the various accreditation agencies associated with the Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) and the College of Education.

Collects and organizes data for analysis and reporting; disaggregates data and disseminates reports to the various programs in the College of Education and EPP-wide, in preparation for reviews by the national educator-preparation accrediting agency and other accrediting bodies (e.g., CAEP, CACREP, NASP, ALA).

Coordinates the completion of review reports for all programs and associated tasks required for submission to the national educator-preparation accrediting agency and/or federal or state departments of education.

Collects and organizes data from program completers for analysis and reporting.

Assists in the writing of the annual reports and the self-study reports for the national educator-preparation accrediting agency.

Working with the Associate Dean, develops and maintains a system for tracking teacher candidate data from acceptance in the Teacher Education Program through graduation and ensures accuracy of student data collection (e.g., Praxis scores, Pearson scores) to be reported to state, federal and national accreditation institutions (e.g., CAEP, Title II).

Maintains the public data website required by national educator-preparation accrediting agency for the annual reports and accountability measures.

Actively supports the accreditation efforts of all College of Education programs.

Actively supports the community partnership efforts of specific programs, such as the Residency program by collecting data, and reporting out on those initiatives.

Supports ongoing COE strategic planning by facilitating the collection and dissemination of data necessary for evidence-based decision-making.

In collaboration with the Teacher Education programs and other academic departments in the College of Education, reviews, revises, and updates various evaluation tools needed for the various accreditation agencies.

Provides professional development to faculty, adjunct and University supervisors on assessment tools to ensure inter-rater reliability and training on using new tools.

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

Qualifications

Master's degree with four (4) years of experience in data collection, reporting, and analysis; relevant experience in teacher education or K-12 education preferred. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and techniques involved in the design, development, and implementation of projects, surveys, and studies in institutional assessment, planning, research, and decision-making; demonstrated experience in the assessment of student learning outcomes in the context of institutional and program accreditation. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills along with the ability to work collegially, constructively, and effectively with a variety of stakeholders, groups, and individuals, as well as the ability to work independently. Experience with accreditation requirements such as CAEP accreditation, and prior direct and indirect assessment experience are preferred. Familiarity with the Connecticut State Department of Education and national educator-preparation accrediting agency standards are preferred. These requirements may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
