Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities

The Computer Science Department at Southern Connecticut State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (depending on experience) to begin in Fall 2025.
We are seeking applicants who are passionate about teaching cybersecurity within our computer science department to a diverse student population at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should be strongly committed to the teacher-scholar model, which includes maintaining high-quality teaching along with an active research program which includes seeking external funding. All full-time faculty members serve as academic advisors and have service responsibilities within the Department and the University. The department’s teaching load is 3 classes (9 credits) per semester.

The department offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Science in Computer Science with concentrations in Cybersecurity, Software Development and Data Science.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science (or a related discipline); relevant teaching experience; a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; evidence of productive scholarly activity; and evidence of the ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally. ABDs will be considered if the degree will be completed prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in cybersecurity with specializations in penetration testing, network security, DevSecOps, malware analysis, cloud security, forensics, or application security. Also preferred is evidence of research conducted with undergraduate students; evidence of curricular innovation and development; strong teaching evaluations and experience teaching at a university of similar profile in the United States.
