The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is a NCAA Division II program and a member of the Northeast 10 Conference. Consisting of 19 athletics teams, SCSU’s outstanding program continually ranks among the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation and also boasts a long record of dominance in the Northeast for both team and individual championships. The Owls rich tradition of success consists of 83 Northeast 10 Conference Championships, over 1,200 All-Americans, 80 NCAA individual titles, and 10 NCAA team championship titles.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Coverage at practices and home contests.
  • Evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Work in conjunction with the team physician and other staff athletic trainers.
  • Some travel with assigned sports teams may be required.
  • Maintain medical files and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Qualifications

  • An earned master’s degree is required.
  • BOC certified and three (3) years of appropriate professional level experience.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Training license in the State of Connecticut.
  • Commitment to following the letter and spirit of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse population of student-athletes and coaches in a cultural climate that celebrates diversity.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills

Red Cross Professional Rescuer and Community First Aid Instructor. Certification with the National Strength and Conditional Association (CSCS), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Performance Enhancement Specialization (PES), Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Active Release Techniques (ART), Certified Sport Nutrition Coach (CSNC, Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), or Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). Graston (G1 & G2) certification and/or experience with muscle energy, cupping, BFR, ext.
