Individual Counseling

Counseling Services offers confidential individual counseling to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students through both telehealth and in-person services.  Services are free and no insurance coverage is needed

In individual counseling, the student meets one-on-one with a professional counselor, who will provide an open, supportive, and confidential environment in which issues and concerns can be clarified and addressed. Students may request either telehealth (online) or in-person sessions.

Counseling Services uses a brief therapy model, focused on addressing specific short-term goals identified by the student and counselor.  Counselors are affirming of students from diverse backgrounds and welcome discussion of how all aspects of a student’s identities impact their life and concerns.

Sessions are usually scheduled weekly or biweekly for 30-50 minutes.  If the student needs or prefers more frequent or longer-term therapy, counselors can help provide referrals to community mental health providers.
