2026 Senate Election — Candidate Profiles
The following candidates have been nominated for a two-year term on the Administrative Faculty Senate. All SUOAF and Management/Confidential employees who are not members of the President's Cabinet are eligible to vote.
Review the profiles below, then cast your vote during the electronic voting period. Results will be announced ahead of the AFS Annual Meeting on or around June 15, 2026.
Returning Senators
Jordan Alvarez Incumbent
Jordan has served in Student Affairs for over a decade, working across residential life, student conduct, and leadership development programs. As a current senator, Jordan led the AFS Budget Committee's review of the FY27 submission and co-authored the strategic plan's Advancing Accountability pillar. Jordan is committed to ensuring administrative faculty voices are centered in institutional planning processes and looks forward to a second term continuing this work.
Marcus Washington Incumbent
Marcus has served as an academic advisor at SCSU for eleven years and has spent the last two years as an AFS senator, where he chaired the Sabbatical Leave Committee through its recent process redesign. His work on eliminating quarterly review cycles in favor of a single annual deadline has been recognized as a model for administrative efficiency. Marcus is running for re-election to continue advancing fair and transparent governance policies.
Tomas Cruz Incumbent
Tomas has been a visible leader in campus equity and inclusion work for thirteen years. During his current senate term he served on the Nominations and Elections Committee and helped coordinate the 2025 campus forum on higher education challenges. He is committed to a second term focused on expanding AFS membership representation and ensuring underrepresented employee groups have a meaningful voice in governance.
Linda Moreau Incumbent
Linda has worked in the Registrar's office for eighteen years and has navigated multiple curriculum management system transitions. As a senator, she has been a consistent voice for clarity and consistency in academic policy and has contributed to the AFS newsletter since its launch. She is seeking re-election to continue her work on policy communication and to mentor newer senators through the governance process.
Gloria Hernandez Incumbent
Gloria brings fifteen years of HR experience to the senate, where she has focused on classification and compensation equity for administrative faculty. During her current term she served on the P-Card Policy working group and contributed to the AFS's formal concerns brief submitted to the university's CFO. She is running for re-election to continue this advocacy and to support professional development programming for administrative staff.
New Nominees
Rachel Park New Nominee
Rachel joined SCSU eight years ago and has been a consistent advocate for equitable access to financial resources for students. She has served on the University Budget Advisory Committee and chaired the Enrollment Management Division's internal policy working group. Rachel is seeking a senate seat to bring financial aid and enrollment perspectives into shared governance and to advocate for administrative staff workload equity.
Sana Tremblay New Nominee
Sana brings a data-driven perspective to every conversation about university policy. In her five years at SCSU, she has contributed to accreditation self-studies, faculty workload analyses, and program review data packages. She is seeking a senate seat to ensure that evidence and institutional data play a larger role in shared governance decision-making, particularly around resource allocation and staffing models.
Dana Lévesque New Nominee
Dana has managed federal and state grant portfolios at SCSU for seven years, working closely with faculty across all colleges on compliance, reporting, and budget administration. She is passionate about transparency in institutional budgeting and the professional development of administrative staff. Dana is self-nominating to advocate for clearer pathways for Management/Confidential employees within shared governance.
Priya Okonkwo New Nominee
Priya joined SCSU four years ago and has developed employer partnership programs, alumni mentorship initiatives, and a LinkedIn professional development series. She is eager to bring a student success perspective to the AFS and to advocate for greater investment in co-curricular resources that support student career readiness. Priya believes strongly that administrative staff are essential contributors to student outcomes.
Kevin Nguyen New Nominee
Kevin has supported SCSU's technology infrastructure for six years, including systems migrations, endpoint management, and the university's shift to hybrid work environments. He is nominating himself to advocate for IT administrative staff who are often overlooked in governance conversations despite being essential to university operations. Kevin hopes to bring a technical and operational perspective to AFS policy discussions.
Amelia Brooks New Nominee
Amelia has led the Accessibility Resources office for nine years, collaborating with faculty, students, and staff to build an inclusive campus environment. She has chaired the ADA Compliance Advisory Group and co-led the university's Universal Design for Learning initiative. Amelia is joining the senate race to ensure accessibility and equity considerations are embedded in every major institutional decision the senate advises on.
Felix Ruiz New Nominee
Felix has coordinated Honors College programming for five years, supporting high-achieving students through research opportunities, community engagement projects, and capstone advising. He is motivated to join the AFS by a desire to advocate for integrative and interdisciplinary programming within shared governance. Felix believes the senate is a critical venue for championing student-centered approaches to institutional planning.
Brian Tanner New Nominee
Brian joined SCSU three years ago to launch and lead the Office of Sustainability, developing the university's first comprehensive climate action plan. He brings cross-divisional collaboration experience and a commitment to long-term, evidence-based institutional planning. Brian is seeking a senate seat to advocate for operational staff voices in governance and to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into budget and facilities planning decisions.
Nadia Johnson New Nominee
Nadia has coordinated First-Year Experience programming for six years, designing orientation curricula, peer mentor programs, and INQ seminar support resources. She is self-nominating because she believes early college transition programs deserve stronger representation in shared governance conversations. Nadia is particularly interested in how AFS can advocate for cross-divisional staffing models that better serve first-generation and underrepresented student populations.
Carlos Serrano New Nominee
Carlos has worked in Advancement for eight years, building alumni mentorship programs and regional engagement networks. He is a first-time nominee and sees the senate as an opportunity to bring the perspective of Advancement staff — who often operate on distinct schedules and budget cycles — into the governance conversation. Carlos is committed to building relationships across divisions to strengthen the AFS as a truly representative body.
