Mission

The university's Office of Online Learning is a collaborative effort between the Information Technology Department and Office of Academic Affairs. This office works closely with faculty and other administrative offices to assist in the development and support of technology enabled course delivery, and to help faculty develop their online teaching strategies and technical skills to achieve their educational goals.

Whether you are brand new to the concept or already have some experience, the Office of Online Learning has valuable tools to take your online teaching to the next level.

Current Initiatives

  • The Office of Online Learning is currently in the middle of the transition from Blackboard Original to Blackboard Ultra. To accomplish this transition, the OOL is working closely with a variety of faculty to pilot the change prior to the entire university changeover. The OOL has coordinate two pilot groups for Blackboard Ultra, one in the Spring of 2026 and one in the Fall of 2027. The entire university will transition to Ultra for the Spring 2027 semester. As part of the transition OOL has offered numerous, on-going, group and one-on-one trainings to support faculty.
  • Working closely with the Office of Workforce and Lifelong Learning, OOL is currently leading the transition from Blackboard Catalog (formally, Training and Development Manager) to Ellucian Journey, a new catalog and registration platform to support continuing education initiatives.
  • The OOL continuously works with faculty on accessibility, academic technologies, and remediation of existing online resources by regularly hosting workshops for various departments on campus as well as providing one-on-one support to individual faculty.
