Blackboard Learn 9 Faculty Support
SCSU currently uses Learn 9 (Blackboard Learn 9) provided by ConnSCU to all secondary education institutions overseen by the State of Connecticut. Learn 9 allows faculty to supplement their on-ground courses with online components, or to use for fully online courses. Use of Learn 9 is up to the individual instructing faculty.

Announcements:
Announcements are an ideal way to post time-sensitive information critical to course success. Add announcements for these types of course activities: due dates for assignments and projects, changes to your syllabus, corrections/clarifications of materials, and exam schedules.

Blogs:
Blogs are an effective way for to share knowledge and materials created and collected in the course. Post entries and add comments to existing blogs. Use blogs to express ideas and share them with the class.

Copy Courses:
Learn how to copy course materials into new and existing courses as well as copy user records such as grades and discussions.

Discussions:
In discussions, thoughts and ideas about class materials can be shared. In Blackboard Learn, course members can have the thoughtful discussions that take place in the traditional classroom, but with the advantages of asynchronous communication. Participants don't need to be in the same location or time zone, and you can take the time to consider your responses carefully.

Grades (Calculating):
In the Grade Center, grades can be calculated with the use of calculated columns. Calculated columns combine data from multiple columns to attain performance results. These results can be shared with students and the institution.

Grades (Grade Center):
From the Grade Center, instructors can view Grade Details to see attempts, assign grades, and view the grade history. This tutorial will show how to select a grade and view the grade details.

Groups:

Student preview tool:
With Student Preview, you can experience your course exactly as your students do. Use Student Preview to review the course content and validate the course behaviors, such as those that control the availability of course content, or require a particular interaction from the student to be triggered. Tools (Add to course):
Setting which tools are available in your course and who can access them is a critical part of course design. Course tools allow you to control the different ways students interact, add content, and stay on track. While Blackboard has many different tools available, you need to select the best ones for your users.

You can help students access what they need by adding links to frequently used tools in different parts of your course. For example, on the course menu, add links to My Grades and Email. In content areas, place relevant tool links near instructional content.
