Commuter Services

You don’t have to live on campus to be a vital part of our community. The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development proudly serves the commuter student population on campus through a variety of programming and engagement opportunities. The Student Involvement staff is committed to programming that provides non-residential students the opportunity to connect to SCSU campus life throughout your time spent on-campus.

Commuter Resources

Locker Rentals - Reserve your locker by stopping in at the front desk of the Adanti Student Center. Students must provide their own lock! Lockers go quickly so be sure to stop in one the first day of classes!

Parking Decals - Pick up your free parking pass in University Police, the University Card Office or the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development, ASC 212.

U-Pass - Don’t forget to pick up your U-PASS! A U-PASS is a card that you use to access FREE CT transit services.

Commuter Meal Plan - Consider purchasing a commuter meal plan. See meal plan pricing and information.

Commuter Programs – Commuter Services sponsors a number of commuter specific events throughout the year that help engage and support commuter students at SCSU.  Some of these events include, but are not limited to Commuter Luncheons, Wake Up Wednesdays, Good Morning Commuters and Commuter Connection Week and weekly Commuter Connect Events.

Commuter Assistants – Commuter Assistants are dedicated student workers who serve as advocates for the commuter student population at SCSU. Commuter Assistants plan and sponsor programs, host commuter cohorts and work with faculty and staff to support and enhance the commuter experience at Southern.

Commuter Cohorts – Led by our Commuter Assistants, commuter cohorts meet once a week for six weeks, and provide unique experiences that explore all different facets of commuter life.  From trips to off-campus restaurants, to interactive tours of New Haven, the time spent within the commuter cohort is both educational and entertaining.  Our goal is to have participants grow as students and leaders, learn how to best navigate commuter life at SCSU and expose students to the endless opportunities that exist both on our campus and around New Haven.
