A Day of Caring Thank You

April 9, 2026

Dear Southern Community,

Today, we’re reflecting on something truly special—the generosity and spirit that defines Southern. Across campus and beyond, you showed up in a powerful way and reminded us of what it means to be part of this community. Day of Caring continues to be an event that brings us together around the goal to build the best possible experience for current and future students.  I am filled with gratitude and pride as I reflect on what we’ve achieved together.

Our 2026 Day of Caring was filled with the positive energy and enthusiasm of a large number of donors who stepped up to match contributions, present challenges, support multiple causes, and encourage their peers and family members to get involved. Matching donors gave knowing their funds supported not only their favorite programs, but also the initiatives that our community values most.

An amazing 1,687 individuals gave on Day of Caring!

It is heartwarming that during these challenging financial times, so many members of our community united around our students and demonstrated their commitment to our mission. Every gift, every challenge, and every act of generosity contributed to an inspiring day.

Our Southern community of donors included current students, faculty, and staff, as well as former employees, alumni, and friends of our institution.  I am grateful for each and every donor. Your decision to give back to Southern speaks volumes about your vision, compassion, and commitment to shaping the future of our university.

While final numbers are still being confirmed by our Office of Annual Giving, I’m excited to offer a glimpse of our Day of Caring impact:

  • 1,687 donors gave to over 80 different departments, programs, or teams!
  • We raised a total of $692,454!
  • Nearly half of our donors contributed $25 or less, demonstrating that many small gifts can make a large impact.

Our annual Day of Caring has once again allowed us to demonstrate that Southern is united, compassionate, and driven by purpose. To our entire Division of Institutional Advancement and our dedicated campus leaders who contributed to and championed creative challenges —thank you for making this day possible. You are leading the way to a bright future for Southern!

Sincerely,

Sandy Bulmer
