Southern Connecticut State University is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Housing Assignment Coordinator within the Office of Residence Life.  As an intentionally diverse and student-centered university, Southern is committed to academic excellence, access, social justice, and service for the public good. Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life for Housing Operations, the Housing Assignment Coordinator is responsible for all housing assignments and related functions within the Office of Residence Life for approximately 2,600 residential students.  The Housing Assignment Coordinator is responsible for on-campus housing placements including traditional and apartment-style residence halls, Living Learning Communities, and assignments during low-occupancy housing periods; assessment of housing and meal plan charges; coordination of meal plan selection processes; management of housing assignment databases; and preparation of effective electronic and printed communications for current and prospective students.


The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, student-centered environment committed to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will understand the ways in which living on campus contributes to the success of college students, and they will be able to articulate a vision for the University’s housing assignment process. They will exhibit the ability to manage multiple projects while providing direct customer service to University students, prospective students, and families; and have experience with the implementation and management of enterprise housing assignment software solutions. The Housing Assignment Coordinator will demonstrate successful collaborations with campus partners including staff members in the Student Accounts Office, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Health Services, the Disability Resource Center, University Athletics, and the School of Graduate Studies, among others.

A Bachelor’s degree and three years of full-time experience in housing operations is required.  The position requires a highly motivated person with the ability to work independently, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, an attention to detail and a capacity for creative problem solving.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Banner applications, Access, and Adirondack Housing Director is preferred.
