DEPARTMENT:  The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is a NCAA Division II program and a member of the Northeast 10 Conference.  Consisting of 19 athletics teams, SCSU’s outstanding program continually ranks among the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation, and also boasts a long record of dominance in the Northeast for both team and individual championships.  The Owls rank among the top 10 nationally with 80 individual titles and in team championships with 10 titles.  SCSU had NCAA championships representation in eight sports in 2016-17 and also ranked among the top-30 percent of all Division II programs in the Clearfield Sports Cup for the 11th straight year. 

CATEGORY: Full Time, Contractual

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the position directs the University’s athletic news operations and internal and external communications, with the goal of enhancing the positive image of the University. This position involves significant evening and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred, a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the administration of intercollegiate athletics and/or related field.  Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, staff and general public.  Familiarity with computer programs as related to desktop publishing, layout and design. Demonstrated ability in writing, editing, and media relations. Commitment to follow the letter and spirit of NCAA rules and regulations and affirmative action policies. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience. Ability to effectively work with a diverse population of student athletes and coaches in a cultural climate that celebrates diversity.
