University Assistant – Division of Research and Innovation, STEM-IL Academic and Career Success Coordinator

(This is a temporary, part-time position, which may be renewed at the discretion of the University.)

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist with connecting, monitoring, and supporting students and community members enrolled in BioPath-impacted programming
  • Assist with coordinating and connecting with appropriate academic support services at SCSU and beyond
  • Assist with matching the qualifications of students and community members with internship and employment opportunities
  • Assist with monitoring the success of those placements


Individuals with backgrounds and experience in counseling, social work, and education are highly desirable; moreover, applicants must be interested in education and helping students and community residents. Experience successfully interfacing with and supporting individuals from a variety of backgrounds is highly desirable as well as an ability to lead high-level group projects with limited supervision in a tactful, strategic, and professional manner.

Applicants must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, and an ability to lead high-level group projects. The chosen university assistant should be well versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Those with an educational background in business, marketing, creative writing, accounting or a background and/or interest in STEM are also highly encouraged to apply.

This is a grant-funded position at 19 hours per week with compensation commensurate with experience. Candidates must be available to work over 50% of their time during normal business hours (8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday). This position will involve a combination of remote work as well as in-person events and meetings.
