University Assistant - Academic Affairs

(This is a temporary, part-time position, which may be renewed at the discretion of the University.)
  
Southern Connecticut State University is seeking an energetic and self-motivated University Assistant to provide support to the Office of Academic Affairs.  
   
Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general administrative duties in the Office of the Provost/Academic Affairs.
  • Assist with the review and data entry of faculty/staff travel forms for tracking purposes.
  • Assist with event planning duties.
  • Assist with processing of various forms such as honorariums, personal service agreements, purchase requisitions, vouchers, etc. 
  • Assist with making travel arrangements and handling expense reports.
  • Assist with ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with handling work orders for the office.
  • Assist with file management. 
  • Assist with troubleshooting of matters related to above-mentioned tasks.
  • Assist with front desk coverage and answering questions from students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as required.  
       

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and technical expertise at a mastery level.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.
  • A combination of training and experience in a professionally oriented office setting for a period of at least 2 years.
  • An Associate’s degree or higher (preferred).
  • Work experience in an executive office and/or university setting (preferred).
       

Some of these qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternative experience.  The hourly rate for this position is $20 - $25 an hour (maximum 19 hours per week).
