Brief Description of Duties/ Responsibilities:

Southern Connecticut State University is accepting applications for a temporary one-year Assistant Professor appointment in the Recreation, Tourism, and Sport Management Department beginning August 23, 2021. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in core areas of the tourism, hospitality, and event management curriculum as well as specialization courses commensurate with applicant background and experience. The department will entertain applicants with a broad cross-section of expertise. Candidates with an educational and professional background in hospitality management are encouraged to apply; however, other areas of specialization will be considered. Additional responsibilities include student advisement; department, college, and university service; scholarship/creative activity; and professional activity. 
Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in hospitality or related field of study. Ability to teach core classes at the undergraduate level; provide academic advising for undergraduate students; engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity; integrate technology into classroom instruction; supervise student field experiences. 
Preferred Qualifications:
An earned doctorate or ABD in the appropriate field of study. A minimum of one degree in the field of tourism, hospitality, and event management; previous work experience in the field of hospitality management and tourism; evidence of prior effective teaching and a demonstrated record of scholarship and creative activity.
