Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director, Advancement Strategy & Technology, this position works as a member of the development team charged with ensuring the integrity of donor data and reporting. Assist with the development and administrative functions associated with records in the Raiser’s Edge database. This position will focus on collecting, maintaining and distributing data pertaining to: prospect management, prospect research, list requests (department and university-wide) and Alumni and university events

Position Responsibilities

Works within the Raiser’s Edge database to maintain accurate records of alumni, donors, volunteers and other constituents. This work includes general data entry support: creating new constituent records with biographical information and deceasing records based on obituary research. It also includes the use of various research tools to enter more in-depth research to constituent records (employment, social media, wealth indicators).

Runs routine queries and reports to generate lists and additional requests for data from leadership and other areas within the university. Ensures donor data integrity that supports development team stewardship work.

Generates registration lists and constituent profiles for various alumni and university events. Provides focused prospect research needed to support donor cultivation and solicitation.

Assists in creating documentation for department procedures relating to the inputting and retrieving data from the donor database. Attends weekly prospect management meetings and assists in all aspects of the moves management system.

Aides in establishing and maintaining procedures to accurately track various groups within the donor database (i.e. Foundation Board, committees, etc.).

Supports special development projects that encompass a research or database component. May supervise student workers or others as needed.

Performs other duties related to those described above that do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.


Required: Bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience working with data in a nonprofit or fundraising organization. Strong knowledge and understanding of databases. Advanced Excel capability. Preferred: Past experience using Raiser’s Edge or a similar donor database. Familiarity with tools used in development research (i.e. iWave, Lexis Nexis; Researchpoint). These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
