This week will be full of fun, engaging, and informative events that are geared toward supporting student success at Southern. We are excited to be holding events and partnering with campus partners throughout this entire week. Spread the word and be on the lookout for these awesome events!

Looking to get some movement in? Stop by CASAS for this fun event to help you get moving! CASAS is partnering with RecFit to discuss how movement can positively impact your academic success. Shortly after, we will be moving out to the Academic Quad for some grounding yoga!

CASAS? What’s that? It’s the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services on the 3rd floor of Buley Library! Come by to see our space, to meet our staff, and to learn about our services. We will be making sensory bottles, playing board games, and holding workshops. These open house hours are low stress – just stop on by and say hi! You will not want to miss it! Snacks will be provided.

(1) Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff - Fiesta Latina w/ CASAS

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! MCC will be kicking off Hispanic Heritage month with this event including music, dance, performances, and food! CASAS will have a table to discuss the benefits of movement on memory and academic success, while also handing out snacks to boost academic performance! We will also have flyers to discuss how we support our ELL and bilingual students.
(2) Coffee and Career by the Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD)

(3) Academic Advising Essentials by Academic Advising
Time: 2pm

Want to graduate on time? Yeah, we figured! In order to create a timely path to earning your degree, good academic advising and planning is ESSENTIAL! This workshop will focus on teaching you how to take advantage of Southern's academic advising tools and services so that you can stay on track! You'll learn how to access and use important tools like Banner Student, Degree Eval, Schedule Planner, and Navigate. We'll also discuss how academic advising works at Southern and the support services we provide.
(4) Food for Thought w/ Food Pantry
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Buley Patio
Hungry? Want to learn how being well fed can affect your academic success? CASAS will be partnering with the Food Pantry to support students’ success through nourishment! We will be handing out snacks, while also discussing the positive effects of being well fed and well-nourished on academic performance.
