From the Provost: Return to Labs/Studios

June 26, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

I hope that this email finds you well and that you are finding some time to revitalize as well as have a productive summer.   As you are aware the decision was made in late spring that courses during summer 2020 would remain online and that the campus would only gradually open in preparation for the Fall semester.   I write now with additional information regarding policies and procedures for faculty members who would like access to their labs/studios beginning June 29, 2020, leading up to the fall semester opening.

That information, forms and guidelines are available on the SCSU Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage, Summer 2020 Return

Individuals who require access to laboratories, studios or comparable facilities to continue their scholarship and creative activities where equipment and supplies are located that support their these efforts, or who need to prepare their space for the fall semester can follow the four (4) step process to:

  • document appropriate safety training considering the pandemic,
  • submit a Lab/Studio safety plan for Dean’s approval
  • request approval for specific campus visits, and
  • report status after the visit(s).

Information regarding the limited access plan, the safety training video, guides and templates for the lab/studio safety plan and the electronic form to request visits to campus are available on the website.  Faculty and staff who need brief, one-time access to their offices/labs/studios can also use the request form.

Thanks, best wishes if this "opening" represents your return to your research and creative activities, and, as always, stay well.
