We invite applications for a 10-month full time fellowship position serving as a faculty member within the Department of Recreation, Tourism, & Sport Management. Fellows will be hired for a 2-year appointment, beginning August 28, 2023, at the Assistant Professor rank and salary level. The position will include a reduced credit load and opportunities for professional development with teaching, research and service.
The Department of Recreation, Tourism & Sport Management at Southern Connecticut State University is part of the College of Health and Human Services where 24 different disciplines share values of interprofessional, experiential, and community-engaged teaching and learning. The Department has experienced increasing enrollments and offers undergraduate degrees in Sport Management, Recreation & Leisure Studies, and Tourism, Hospitality & Event Management. Additionally, the Department offers graduate degrees in Sport & Entertainment Management, Recreation Administration, and Recreation Therapy. The Department of Recreation, Tourism & Sport Management is located in the new 94,000 square foot Health and Human Services building.
Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will be teaching core and elective undergraduate courses within the university’s Bachelor of Science Sport Management Program. Additional responsibilities may include supervising student internships; promoting and engaging in scholarly and programmatic activities that align with the Institute for Adapted Sport and Recreation: providing professional service to the department, school, university and profession; and advising undergraduate students.
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate or ABD in Sport Management or closely related field. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply and should make clear what progress they have made on their dissertation.
- Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the university.
