The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a 10-month full time fellowship position serving as a faculty member within the Department of Mathematics. Fellows will be hired for a 2-year appointment at the Assistant Professor rank and salary level. The position will include a reduced credit load and opportunities for professional development with teaching, research and service.

The Department of Mathematics serves almost our entire student body since nearly every undergraduate takes at least two courses in Mathematics at Southern.  Recently the department has teamed with the Computer Science Department to offer a B.S. in Data Science, with a proposal for an M.S. in Data Science currently under development.  This position is open to candidates from every specialization in Mathematics.

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will be teaching within the university’s undergraduate general education program and selected courses for majors in Mathematics.  Additional responsibilities will include: engaging in scholarly activity through publications, presentations, grant writing and/or research; providing professional service to the department, school, university and profession; and advising undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate or ABD in Mathematics or Statistics; 
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the university.
