The Department of Health and Movement Sciences invites applications for a 10-month full time fellowship position serving as a faculty member within the Department of Health and Movement Sciences. Fellows will be hired for a 2-year appointment at the Assistant Professor rank and salary level. The position will include a reduced credit load and opportunities for professional development with teaching, research and service.
As a broad and diverse department, Health and Movement Sciences is committed to educating and developing leaders and practitioners in the areas of athletic training, exercise science, health science, human performance, physical education, respiratory care, and school health education to benefit the public at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our department has recently undergone several revisions to meet professional standards and to enhance the education experience for its students. Part of this revision is the development of accelerated BS to MS programs in the Exercise Sciences which include Applied and Clinical Exercise Physiology and Sport/Exercise Performance. All of these programs maintain national accreditation and are housed in our new 94,000 square foot Health and Human Services Building that includes state-of-the-art laboratories for exercise physiology, biomechanics, physical activity, metabolism & health behavior, cardiovascular physiology and athletic training.
Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will be teaching within the university’s undergraduate Exercise and Sport Science (ESS) and the graduate Exercise Science (EXS) programs and courses assigned by the Chairperson of the Department of Health and Movement Sciences in consultation with the ESS and EXS Program Coordinators. This includes teaching undergraduate courses in the areas of exercise physiology, strength and conditioning and/or other areas to support the department and program mission. Additional responsibilities will include: engaging in scholarly activity through publications, presentations, grant writing and/or research; providing professional service to the department, school, university and profession; and advising undergraduate students.
- Earned doctorate or ABD in exercise science, kinesiology, movement science or related discipline;
